La Rencontre, French for The Meeting, began with a freely drawn line. Unplanned and instinctive, it gradually suggested figures moving toward one another. Within those simple forms, I began to see a moment of connection taking shape: a coming together of people, minds and souls.

Like Amore, the original drawing was scanned and brought into the digital space. There, I continued working intuitively, building the composition through layers of colour, texture and light. Each addition altered the mood of the original sketch while allowing the strength and spontaneity of its lines to remain at the heart of the piece.

Rich yellows, deep greens and touches of turquoise and red move across the surface, while areas of pattern and weathered texture give the artwork a sense of history. The bold black lines seem to divide the composition, yet they also connect its forms, much like the invisible paths that bring people into one another’s lives.

La Rencontre is about that point of contact: the instant when separate journeys cross and something new becomes possible. A meeting may be brief or life-changing, quiet or intense, but it always leaves a trace.
